Wave Rise Surf School · Group lessons
Five to seven surfers
Five to seven surfers, one instructor, on the same beach, with the same equipment and the same team as every other Wave Rise session.
A qualified instructor, a board and a wetsuit that fit you, a shower and a locker with a key afterwards. The beach, the equipment and the team are the same across all our lessons. What changes with semi-private and private is the size of the class, and both of those also include a photographer, so you leave with pictures of your own waves.
For a group lesson we recommend two hours rather than one. With five to seven surfers sharing one instructor, the first hour goes on the sand briefing, the wetsuits and the first waves — the second hour is where most of the standing up actually happens.
People trying surfing for the first time who like the idea of learning alongside others, and solo travellers who would rather not be on the water by themselves. In a good group it is the most sociable of the three lessons.
If you are nervous in the sea, short on time, or booking for a young child, take a semi-private or private lesson. The instructor's attention is undivided, corrections reach you every wave rather than every few minutes, and both include a photographer. That is where most guests get the most out of a single session.
